Features of Painter 4.0
Incredible Natural-Media Tools!
With Painter 4 you can apply the brush strokes of masters such as an Gogh or Seurat; apply calligraphic touches like those of the ancient Japanese; or create the subtle nuances of soft pastels in any image. Sketch on digital paper with pencils and charcoals; dabble with watercolor; or paint with bristly brushes loaded with multiple dabs of paint. You'll find all your traditional artist's supplies, from felt pens, charcoal, and colored pencils to watercolor and oils. In combination with Painter's paper textures, you can achieve any look you wish to express!
Mosaics
Not since the rise of the Roman Empire has there been a form of expression as remarkable as Painter 4's new Mosaic tool. Like other Natural-Media tools, the Mosaic tool lets you create realistic mosaics by "painting" with tiles on a blank canvas or into scanned photos. Each tile is an independent object that recognizes its relationship to other tiles around it and carves its shape perfectly -- just as if it were cut to fit. You can even erase or reshape your tiles and grout to get exactly the look you want!
Frame-by-Frame Animation
(not available in the demo version)
Painter 4 is the only professional desktop image-editing tool that allows users to open and edit digital video. All of the really cool features and special effects in Painter can easily be applied to QuickTime and Video for Windows files. Edit out objects in individual frames - then retouch your movie frames with any of the countless brush and texture effects available.
Net Painter
(not available in the demo version)
Ever dreamed of collaborating on a design - almost simultaneously - with a colleague half-way across the continent? Now with Painter 4's amazing new Net Painter features, multiple users can log into a single artwork session and take turns using any of Painter 4's amazing tools and effects. An ideal feature for art directors working with graphic artists, Net Painter can work on low bandwidth connections including modem connections to the internet or a LAN supporting TCP/IP. Get connected!
Shapes
Shapes makes it possible to combine raster and vector imagery in a single composition. Use a Bezier pen tool and shape tools to create vector geometries, bring in artwork created in Postscript-based illustration programs, then do things that are impossible in drawing programs. Give your shapes transparency, or compositing methods like Overlay and Difference. Layer and group them with bitmap floating selections. Convert them into bitmap floaters and paint on them. It's PostScript with pizzazz!
Web Graphics
Painter 4 supports Internet graphic file GIF and JPEG formats with support for interleaved and transparent GIF images. With Painter 4, you can even create Image Maps - bitmap graphics that contain links to other pages on the internet. And because Painter reads Photoshop 3 layers files and vector artwork files, you can integrate any kind of imagery into your Web page designs.
Image Hose
If you want to literally paint with pictures, grab hold of Painter's amazing Image Hose. Blending painting with photography, the Image-Hose lets you lay down photographs as if they were dabs of paint.
Multiple Undo
Multiple Undo - up to 32 levels - lets you experiment freely without having to worry about committing to every edit.
